Pharmacy Support for Hospice & Palliative Care
Hospice care often requires timely access to medications and dosage forms that support the needs of individual patients. GPS Pharmacy works with hospice organizations, medical directors, nurses and caregivers to provide prescription fulfillment, compounded preparations and pharmacist support. When prescribed, medications may be prepared in alternative dosage forms such as concentrated solutions, sublingual preparations, topical formulations, suppositories or customized capsules when appropriate for the patient's care plan. For registered hospice and healthcare accounts, GPS also provides expanded pharmacy support, medication delivery and pharmacist consultation.
We also provide hospice medication kits for placement in each home. We make each kit custom to individual patient care whether they are terminally ill patients, in end-of-life care, or in need of professional patient care from their assigned nurses.
These kits include common drugs related to hospice diagnosis and treatment. The kit as well as all other prescribed medications needed to treat the patient during their time in hospice care is covered by Medicare and Medicaid and is supplied free of charge to the patient.
